Daughter of Roto-Mix Employee Competes at National Level

McKayla Bacon is back from her trip to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

The queen competition was tough, with 43 participants from the United States, Canada and Australia.

McKayla is the daughter of Sharon and Doyle Bacon. Sharon works at Roto-Mix in Dodge City. Roto-Mix was a proud sponsor of McKayla during her trip to the National High School Finals Rodeo.

Although she did not bring home the title of Miss National High School Rodeo Queen, she did place first in the state presentation contest.

For the state presentation, each queen contestant and their flag bearer had to wear state-themed clothes and decorate their horse.

McKayla dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and her flag bearer dressed as the scarecrow.

By placing first in the state presentation contest McKayla earned points and a pair of jeans.

This is McKayla’s first time competing at the national level. Earlier this summer she was named the 2012-13 Kansas High School Rodeo Association Queen. She also
competes in pole bending and barrel racing through KHSRA.
