Roto-Mix in the News

Good morning!

We just wanted to remind everyone that we’re still collecting tabs off of aluminum cans. Once the tabs are collected, the Ronald McDonald House will donate money to children who need surgery.

Check out The Hutchinson News for a short story about it here.

Collecting for a Cause

Imagine being able to help children with life-threatening medical conditions receive the surgeries they need to survive. The public can help those children by simply collecting tabs off of aluminum cans like pop cans.

Sheila Law, the purchasing receiving clerk at Roto-Mix, is collecting the tabs through May 2013. The Ronald McDonald House will weigh the tabs then and distribute money to children’s families for the surgeries.

It’s a cause that hits home for Law. Her niece in Texas has had several open-heart surgeries and will require more surgeries in the future. The money raised by the tabs will benefit Law’s niece and other children, including a child in Wichita.

“What a good cause – it helps them get the surgeries they need. They’re life-saving surgeries,” she said. “The more we collect, the more we can help out.”

The tabs are small and collecting them is easy and does not take up a lot of space, Law said.

The Ronald McDonald House is a charity that provides rooms for families whose children are hospitalized and operates in 57 countries.

Law said she’s already received a good response from family and friends. People can drop off their tabs from pop cans, beer cans or energy drinks at Roto-Mix in Dodge City, 2205 E. Wyatt Earp. The tabs can also be mailed to Roto-Mix.

People can also drop off their tabs at Melmans Tools, 300 W. McArtor Road or 1011 Kelley Ave. in Dodge City.

Law said she’s also willing to pick up tabs in the Dodge City area. To schedule a pick up, e-mail Law at
